Low-Altitude Trekking with a Panoramic View of the Seto Inland Sea
Experience Details
This is a low-altitude trekking tour up Mt. Shirataki, a mountain that has long been a training ground for Buddhist ascetics on Innoshima Island, with an elevation of 226 meters.
It is said that Murakami Shinzaemon Yoshimitsu, the sixth head of the Innoshima Murakami Suigun (a pirate clan that existed during the Sengoku period), built a Kannon-do hall at the summit to serve as a lookout post. The panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea from the observation deck, with nothing to obstruct your view, is absolutely spectacular.
The trek is about one to one and a half hours, making it easy for even beginners to join. You’ll walk at a leisurely pace with a guide, and as you ascend, you’ll witness the beauty of the countless islands—a sight that can be proudly shared with the world.
