Art Base Momoshima is an art center located in a remote island Momoshima in Onomichi, Setouchi Inland Sea that aims to explore the artistic potential and utilize the heritage of the island that suffers from depopulation.
Art Base grew from the ideas of internationally acclaimed artist Yukinori Yanagi, also known for his work on Inujima, another art island off the coast of neighboring Okayama Prefecture.
Normally open only on Sundays, Azumi Setoda offers a private tour exclusively for staying guests.
Momoshima is easily accessible by a 30-minute boat ride from Onomichi Port (not Setoda Port), and is a must-visit destination for contemporary art lovers.
Guide will meet and end at Momoshima (Fukuda Port).

The distance from Azumi Setoda to Momoshima is about 45 km, and it takes about 80 minutes by boat. (Setoda Port – Onomichi Port: approximately 40 minutes, Onomichi Port – Momoshima (Fukuda Port): approximately 35 minutes) Please kindly note that to go to Momoshima from Setoda, you need to change boat at Onomichi port.
Boats to Momoshima depart from and arrive at Onomichi Port only. Boat and Taxi is available from Azumi Setoda to Onomichi Port. Due to the timetable, there is a 1-hour wait at Onomichi Port, so taxi is recommended to Onomichi Port. Please kindly note that taxi needs to be booked in advance.
